Is the New RTD Nespresso Coffee Just a Marketing Stunt?
plus.. it must be Spooky Season with how prospects are ghosting
Drought
Ghosting… why is this acceptable? Is there a business owner integrity rating system? I’m not talking about their actual operations, that’s a whole different topic but I’m talking about the people that run the businesses. If you’ve never experienced B2B selling and had someone just completely drop off without any reasoning, explanation or alternative, you might not fully understand the angst and pain I’m talking about.
Most of us SMB owners put a lot of effort and energy into sourcing vendors. From where we get linens to where we get our coffee, and where our honey comes from. Those relationships are really important. So when someone decides that they don’t want to work with you anymore, that is 100% their prerogative, however, if they do so without saying anything or without providing any context, what is the other party supposed to think?
Business relationships change from time to time but the way we act in those situations show our true character.
Be mindful the next time you decide to either leave a relationship or if you decide not to buy from a new vendor. They have a heart and a soul too…
Superfluity
Do RTD coffee beverages have a net positive outcome for the industry as a whole?
Firstly, there is more packaging thus more waste. But waste cannot be much of a concern for Nespresso, a company who has made a name for themselves as the premier choice for workplace break room coffee, as their coffee pods have been getting tossed in the trash for years already. Nespresso touts the new beverage as an effort in sustainability for coffee producers, as described in incredibly vague detail with lots of PR buzz words.
Secondly, does canned coffee detract from the meditative morning ritual of brewing a cup of coffee? Is easier always better? Do RTD coffee beverages serve as a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist?
Thirdly, do these canned beverages create another hurdle for smaller businesses who can’t meet the customer expectation for fast, convenient, ready to drink beverages that require thousands and thousands of dollars in specialized equipment to produce on the back end?
These Nespresso cans are only available through the Nespresso app (fun, another useless app I need to download) or in select Nespresso Boutiques (a supposedly real thing I’ve never known to exist).
Abundance
Meme-heavy coffee brand instagram pages. I know that memes aren’t for everyone but honestly the brands that do it well, really get me excited. I’m trying to catch up on my cafe’s IG page but tbh there are a few that have been doing it really well for a long time.
Are you a fan of memes?
If you’re favorite brand starting posting memes regularly on their social media channels would you follow or unfollow?
Either way, I’m a huge fan… looking at you Sabbath Coffee ;)
